Bank Indonesia launched the Indonesia Tourist Travel Pack (ITTP) at the I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali to support digital payments. The initiative is aimed at creating a cashless tourism ecosystem, along with easing payments for international visitors. The move is also expected to boost Indonesia’s position as a tourist-friendly destination.
All you need to know about Bali’s new digital payments system
Bank Indonesia has launched the Indonesia Tourist Travel Pack (ITTP). The pack combines the following elements:
- An Indonesian SIM card (local number) with internet access (a valid data pack).
- Chip-based electronic money linked to an e-wallet.
The system will help travellers make QR-code-based payments at tourist sites, shops, hotels, and eateries, seamlessly integrating into the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) system of Indonesia. Although cash continues to be widely used, the ease of making payments using your smartphone is a desirable element while travelling abroad.
According to a report on The Bali Sun, the authorities have also set up a Tourism Information Center at the airport, which will help visitors access the ITTP pack and also get the QRIS Nusantara Tourism Guidebook. The guidebook will be the go-to list for all of Bali’s most popular attractions, cafes, markets and businesses that accept QRIS payments, further ensuring tourists have a seamless payment experience.
Additionally, Indonesia is working on a plan to redenominate its currency to a simpler numerical system, although the transition is expected to take time.

Bali is one of the most popular global destinations, especially for those in love with beaches, seascapes, adventure sports, and a sense of being at one with nature. Some of the best places to visit in Bali include Uluwatu Temple, Ubud Monkey Forest, Tanah Lot Temple, Mount Batur, and Tegalalang Rice Terrace.
